What is a Facebook ad mockup?
A Facebook ad mockup is a picture of your ad as people will see it in their feed or in Stories, made before the ad runs.

It puts your page name, primary text, image, headline and button in one frame, so you can check what gets cut, how the image is cropped and whether the offer reads at a glance. This generator builds the mockup in your browser and exports it as a PNG to share with a client or a teammate. It is a generic preview, not Meta’s own: the exact rendering is in Ads Manager.
Why mock up an ad before you launch it?
A mockup takes a minute. It catches the mistakes you only notice once the ad is on a phone screen.
- See what gets cutOnly the start of the primary text shows before “See more”. The mockup shows where the cut falls, so the offer sits before it.
- Check the cropThe same image runs at 4:5 in Feed and 9:16 in Stories. The mockup shows whether the product stays in the frame.
- Keep text out of the safe zonesIn Stories, the profile and the button cover the top and the bottom of the frame. The guides show where your text should not go.
- Get a faster yesA PNG that looks like the real ad is easier to approve than a document with the text in one place and the image in another.
How long should Facebook ad text be?
Meta gives text recommendations by placement. Longer text still runs, but it gets cut on screen. In Facebook Feed, aim for 50 to 150 characters of primary text and a 27-character headline; on Instagram, 125 characters of primary text.
| Placement | Primary text | Headline |
|---|---|---|
| Facebook Feed | 50 to 150 characters | 27 characters |
| Instagram Feed | 125 characters | 40 characters (image) |
| Facebook Stories | 125 characters | 40 characters |
| Facebook Reels | 40 characters | 55 characters |
| Facebook Feed carousel | 80 characters | 20 characters |

| Placement | Ratio | Recommended size |
|---|---|---|
| Facebook and Instagram Feed (image) | 4:5 | 1440 × 1800 px |
| Stories and Reels | 9:16 | 1440 × 2560 px |
